Once there was a 13-year old “vulnerable youth in at-risk circumstances” who got involved in street narcotics (selling crack cocaine and marijuana) when his family was plunged into poverty with the retrenchment of his step-father, the sole breadwinner.
He completed school at age 15-years old with the bare minimum grades. At age 16-years old, he was “unemployed and not in school, but wanted to make a difference in his community” as a “Youth” he found that “Opportunity” through selling drugs.
At age 20-years old, he was given a real Opportunity to attend a trade school with a life skills human-development component where he began to discover “who am I?” and “why am I?” and began slowly moving away from a life of drugs and gangs.
Today, he uses his “Lived Experiences and Social Realities to Create Pathways to Success for similar vulnerable youth in at-risk circumstances and Opportunity Youth.”
